In the Director of Advancement role, you will be a key leader in driving fundraising, events and planned giving to advance the mission of OhioGuidestone. You will lead a team of professionals that demonstrate our Values.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of Our Promise each and every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for annual giving, planned giving and event fundraising with objectives, timelines and evaluation plans designed to meet the annual goals.
  • Supervise assigned staff including hiring, supervision and development, including the development of leadership and supervisory skills necessary to ensure agency success.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a personal portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Develop funding strategies/resources, respond to RFP’s and other opportunities, collaborate with other partnership agencies and network to maintain current positive relationships in the community.
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis of campaign results and makes recommendations for program enhancements and efficiencies.
  • Assist with coordination and production of the annual report.
  • Develop and maintain an excellent knowledge and understanding of the non-profit fundraising climate and be constantly looking to identify and implement innovative and creative fundraising techniques.
  • Assure fiscal accountability of all assigned programs and services. Exhibit and demand care and competence in managing agency resources.
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on or share new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership, promote an inclusive work environment and present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s Degree and/or a professional certification in Marketing or Public Relations is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in one or more of the following settings: education, not-for-profit, government, business and/or industry required. Advancement experience could offset other required experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in effective donor moves management.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of fundraising, including direct mail, personal and telephone solicitations, cultivation, events, stewardship, and donor relations
  • Proven track record of securing major and planned gifts.

Qualifications:

  • Management experience in staff development, budgeting, research, and customer service.
  • Exceptional skills in communications, marketing, and interpersonal relations, with specific expertise in creating and delivering presentations and negotiating with the media.
  • Ability to attend evening and/or weekend activities, meetings, and seminars. Regular travel throughout the OhioGuidestone territory required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM database software (Raiser’s Edge preferred)
  • Results orientation.
  • Effective judgment and problem-solving skills.
